Day 1

Home – Wellington
Departing from the Hunter and Sydney, we make our way through the Sandstone Curtain to the top of the range. After lunch, hold onto your hat as we do a quick lap of Bathurst before travelling via Orange to the beautiful town of Wellington for our overnight stay.

Day 2

Wellington Caves – Hot Baths – Moree
Admire the Wellington mosaic and sculpture on the edge of town before taking a guided tour at the Wellington Caves. This afternoon we will travel to Moree where we will get ready for the outdoor spirit of our upcoming festival experience. Tonight we’re ‘glamping’ in our ensuited cabins at the Gwydir Caravan Park, where you can take a dip in the therapeutic hot mineral waters of Moree. Enjoy dinner tonight in the local tavern.

Day 3

Moree Hot Artesian Spa – Pecan Farm – Goondiwindi
The smell of bacon and eggs and the campground is always a good way to start the day. Join us in the camp kitchen for some bacon and eggs, cereals, juice and toast. Following breakfast, take one last opportunity to enjoy the hot pools. Mid-morning we learn how pecan nuts are grown, harvested and processed at Trewalla Pecan Nut Farm, the biggest producer of pecans in the southern hemisphere. Purchase your own lunch before our journey continues to Goondiwindi where we will visit the Information Centre, home of the Gunsynd Museum.

Day 4

Cotton on in Goondiwindi
Today’s touring includes a behind the scenes look at Goondiwindi’s cotton industry. Experience the workings of a cotton farm, view a cotton picker, a miniature cotton processing mill in operation and the water storage dams. Be welcomed by the team at Goondiwindi Cotton for an overview of how their clothes move through the production chain from the paddock to the finished garment. Visit the Heritage Water Park and see an interesting display of memorabilia at the Victoria Hotel where we will also enjoy lunch. This afternoon, visit the Customs House Museum, once a border customs point before Federation, this authentically restored building and its magnificent cottage garden, now houses a rich and colourful collection of memorabilia. Continue on to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church to view 26 stained glass windows including 13 by the famous glass artist - William Bustard.

Day 5

Goondiwindi – Millmerran Camp Ovens – Dalby
Before leaving Goondiwindi, view one of the largest wheat storage depots in the southern hemisphere. Then travel on to Inglewood for a visit to the Golden Leaf Museum before arriving in Millmerran to experience this unique Australian Camp Oven Festival. As you wander around, you can sample some of what is on offer and purchase your own lunch today. Watch damper throwing or billy boiling competitions, view the horses being shod and sheep shearing demonstrations or just sit back and enjoy the country music. There are stalls which sell an array of goods including food, wine, clothes, leather-wear, bric-a-brac, cookbooks and assorted implements. Travel to Dalby for your overnight stay.

Day 6

Dalby – Warwick
Our day starts with a hearty breakfast at Jondaryan Woolshed, as a part of their Sunday morning brunch. Lunchtime will see us back at the Australian Camp Oven Festiva - try some different treats and enjoy the afternoon. Tonight’s accommodation is in Warwick.

Day 7

Warwick – Walcha
Today we head south travelling via Stanthorpe and Texas before arriving in Inverell. Enjoy lunch in the grounds of the Pioneer Village before continuing on for our short drive to Aspley Falls and the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.

Day 8

Walcha – Home
Continuing down Thunderbolt’s Way, stop at Carson’s lookout to admire the views over the Giro Valley below. Return to the Hunter in time for lunch.
