Home – Batemans Bay
Depart the Hunter and the Central Coast, meeting our Queensland friends after their early morning flight into Sydney. Have morning tea before travelling south over the Seacliff Bridge, stopping in Kiama for lunch and a visit to the blowhole. Continue on via Ulladulla before arriving in Batemans Bay for our overnight stay.
Batemans Bay – Lakes Entrance
Travel via Bermagui to Eden where there will be time to explore the town centre and purchase your own lunch. This afternoon, cross the border into Victoria to Lakes Entrance where this evening will be at your leisure. Perhaps enjoy some local seafood at one of the restaurants or clubs.
Lakes Entrance – Lake King – Bairnsdale
Over the next four days, we will cruise the entire Lakes region on board the Spirit II, disembarking each night. Departing Lakes Entrance, we cruise along the Reeves Channel to Metung, stopping for lunch and time to explore this tiny village. Back on board, we travel across Lake King and down the Mitchell River to Bairnsdale, where our coach will take us to our accommodation for the next three nights.
Bairnsdale – Eagle Point – Paynseville
Admire the ever changing beauty of the Mitchell River, cruising to Eagle Point to view the magnificent natural formation of silt jetties—the second longest in the world. After a stop for lunch
at the Nicholson Hotel, we cruise along the Tambo River to the town of Johnsonville. The Tambo promises excellent opportunities for bird watching. Before docking for the evening, cruise along some of the many canals before arriving in Paynseville and transferring back to our accommodation.
Paynseville – 90 Mile Beach – Hollands Landing
Departing Paynseville, cruise to Ocean Grange where we stop to walk onto the famous Ninety Mile Beach. Separating the Gippsland Lakes from Bass Strait, this beach features pristine golden sand and is a good place to see shearwaters, terns and gulls. Look for more wildlife at Sperm Whale Head Jetty at Point Wilson, before cruising on to Wattle Point for a BBQ lunch. This afternoon cruise across Lake Victoria to Hollands Landing where our coach will meet us today.
Hollands Landing – Marley Point – Sale
Depart Hollands Landing for our last day of cruising, travelling along the McLennan’s Strait, the channel connecting Lake Victoria and Lake Wellington. The extensive wetlands here are
important bird habitats—look and listen for more birdlife as we travel along the Avon and Perry Rivers. Lunch is on board today as we cruise past Marley Point, the starting point for the
famous overnight sailing race. Cruising along the La Trobe River, stop at the fully restored 19th century swing bridge before travelling down the 2.5km man-made channel that brings the
Thomson River to our final port of Sale.
Sale – Melbourne – Home
After breakfast we will board our coach and travel via the Dandenongs for lunch. This afternoon, your crew will assist with your check in for your flights home from Melbourne.
