Day 1

Home – Melbourne – Shepparton
On arrival in Melbourne you will be met by our crew where you will embark on a journey of discovery as we travel the Newell Highway. The Newell Highway forms the NSW portion of the
Melbourne-Brisbane link of the National Highway. Travelling north, we arrive at Mooving Art Shepparton, a unique and innovative art exhibition paying homage to the dairy industry.

L, D

Day 2

Shepparton – Narrandera – West Wyalong
This morning we travel to the New South Wales border town of Tocumwal on the Murray River. At the Tocumwal Foreshore Park you'll find the 'World's Biggest Codfish' on display, representing what this area is most famous for. Travelling through Finley this morning you will cross over the Mulwala Canal, on your way to the plains of Narrandera. Stop for lunch and a visit to the Tiger Moth Memorial. At West Wyalong we visit Exclusive Hot Glass—a gallery and workshop of handcrafted bowls, platters, vases and jewellery.

B, L, D

Day 3

West Wyalong – Forbes – Parkes
Discover the inland town of Forbes—our guide is a third generation Forbes resident, who will introduce us to the colourful history, gardens and gracious public buildings. In nearby Parkes, we
stop for lunch and of course a tour of ‘the Dish’, the Parkes Radio Telescope. Learn about the Father of Federation at the Henry Parkes Centre and Henry Parkes Museum, before checking into our overnight accommodation.

B, L, D

Day 4

Parkes – Dubbo
Continuing our journey into the heart of New South Wales, we stop at Dubbo on the Macquarie River. At the open range Western Plains Zoo, take a guided tour of this home for more than 4,000 animals from over 350 species and enjoy morning tea and lunch. This afternoon, explore the Royal Flying Doctors Visitor Education Centre and discover the ‘colourful’ history of the Old Dubbo Gaol.

B, L, D

Day 5

Dubbo – Solar System Drive – Coonabarabran
On our way between Dubbo and Coonabarabran, we embark on the solar system drive, a scale model of our solar system, at 38 million times smaller. Beginning with the Dwarf planet Pluto, we discover an information point and 3D planet, spaced accurately to reflect their position in space, until we reach the sun, at the Siding Springs Observatory. The models range from 5cm to 3.9m in diameter. Along the way, stop at Gilgandra’s Coo-ee Heritage and Visitor Information Centre to discover the origins of the famous call. Arriving at the Siding Springs Observatory, enjoy lunch and a guided tour before we set off for some magnificent lookouts in the Warrumbungles National Park. Check in to our overnight accommodation at Coonabarabran.

B, L, D

Day 6

Coonabarabran – Sawn Rocks – Narrabri
This morning our Newell discovery tour continues at Pilliga Pottery, NSW’s largest pottery where the artists take inspiration from the surrounds, on the edge of the vast Pilliga Forest. From Narrabri, we visit Sawn Rocks, one of Australia’s best examples of a rock formation called ‘organ-piping’. Take the short and shady walk to the lookout for the ideal photo opportunity. After a picnic lunch, visit the Gaol and Museum before checking into our overnight accommodation.

B, L, D

Day 7

Narrabri – Moree
Travelling to Moree this morning, we enjoy a Pecan Nut Farm and Town Tour of this fertile area known as the Golden Wheatbelt for the huge crops of top quality seed produced here. After
lunch, spend some time relaxing in the Moree Artesian Pools and reap the therapeutic benefits of the naturally occurring mineral waters.

B, L, D

Day 8

Moree – Brisbane – Home
This morning we travel the last leg of the Newell Highway to the Queensland border and the town of Goondiwindi. This town is the junction of six highways, The Newell, The Bruxner, The Barwon, The Leichardt, The Cunningham and The Gore Highway. Look out for the Gunsynd statue, commemorating the champion thoroughbred racehorse of the 60s and 70s. Enjoy lunch in Pittsworth before continuing to Brisbane. Sydney and Hunter passengers will transfer to the airport for their flight home and transfers will be arranged for Brisbane passengers.
