Day 1

Sydney – Albury
Depart from the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney via Goulburn for your overnight stay in Albury at the Best Western Plus Hovell Tree.

Day 2

Albury - Ballarat
Travelling through Benalla then on to Shepparton, the centre of the Goulburn Valley, arrive at the beautiful heritage gold mining city of Bendigo, joining the ‘Talking’ Tram for a tour and a visit to the Tram Museum. Continue through the spa district of Daylesford to historical Ballarat.

Day 3

Ballarat, Sovereign Hill and Blood on the Southern Cross
Today we pan for gold at Sovereign Hill, see the precious metal being poured, take in the woodturning and generally step back in time. Tonight watch the spectacular light and sound show ‘Blood on the Southern Cross’, based on the Eureka Stockade in 1854. Definitely one of the best shows you may ever see.

Day 4

Ballarat – Apollo Bay, Great Ocean Road
In Geelong there will be an opportunity to photograph the unusual bollards along the Esplanade, decorated to resemble local identities such as the life savers. Just past Torquay, is Bells Beach, the scene of the Easter Surf Classic. The Great Ocean Road was a project created during the depression. It hugs the coastline, offering incredible views of the shore line and there will be many stops along the way for photos.

Day 5

Apollo Bay – Warrnambool
The Otway Fly, is a 600m walk through the treetops of native eucalyptus in Victoria’s rugged forest region. The Great Southern Ocean, is the scene of 100’s of early shipwrecks, the Twelve Apostles, one of the most visited destinations in Australia. Loch Ard Gorge, named from the ship wrecked at this spot, reveals the rugged cliff line and ferociousness of the sea. At the Arch, see what remains of the London Bridge then the Bay of Islands. Tonight be immersed in Warrnambool’s sound and light show ‘Shipwrecked’, telling the story of the Loch Ard wreck.

Day 6

Warrnambool – Mount Gambier
See the Loch Ard Peacock statue at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. Visit the gardens of the Fletcher Jones Factory then lunch at Port Fairy on the coast. The day ends in Mount Gambier with a walk through the beautiful Umpherston Sinkhole and a drive around the dramatic Blue Lake.

Day 7

Mount Gambier – Barossa Valley
This morning we see Lakes Alexandrina and Albert, following the Coorong with its rugged dunes and home to over 400 different species of birds. Spend lunch at Kingston SE, before following the Murray to the Barossa Valley.

Day 8

Barossa Valley Wine and Art
Visit the Whispering Wall this morning to hear its secrets before making our way to Mengler’s Hill for a spectacular view over the Barossa Valley from the pioneer memorial and sculpture display. Enjoy a picnic lunch in Tanunda and then head to a winery for a tasting. Tour the Chateau Barrosa with its eclectic 18th century furniture collection. Our afternoon will be complete with another wine tasting.

Day 9

Adelaide - Haigh’s Chocolates and Hahndorf
Explore Adelaide and its environs today, with your first stop at Haigh’s Chocolates for a tasting, then some free time in Rundle Mall. Travel past the picturesque farmlands of the Adelaide Hills to the historic German pioneer village of Hahndorf with, time to wander its streets. Next visit the crescent-shaped Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. Dine at the lovely Mount Lofty Restaurant with stunning views over the city from the Adelaide Hills.

Day 10

Barossa – Mildura
Leaving the Barossa, Blanchetown is the beginning of the lock and weir system on the Murray. With lunch in Mildura, tour Orange World including a train ride through the extensive orchard to learn about the industry and have the freshest glass of orange juice, pick up some orchard tips as well!

Day 11

Mildura - Wagga Wagga
Drive from the Riverland to Balranald for morning tea, then enjoy lunch at Hay before traveling through the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area at Narrandera on the way to Wagga Wagga.

Wagga Wagga - Sydney
This morning make your way home from Wagga Wagga to Sydney, Central Coast and the Hunter, with morning tea and lunch en route.
