Day 1

Your tour begins with an early morning flight to Adelaide, where you will be met by your Cross Country Tours Coach Captain and Hostess. Travel direct to Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement and one of the Adelaide Hills most famous towns where the old and new combine to present a unique experience. Take time to wander the specialty shops and purchase your own lunch as you discover the history of the settlement which is still very evident today in the architecture and German influences. Continue on to Victor Harbor for our overnight stay at the Apollon Motor Inn (Ph 08 8552 2777).

Day 2

This morning travel to Cape Jervis where we'll embark on a ferry crossing from the South Australian mainland arriving into Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Feel the excitement mount as the island comes into view and you take in the tranquillity of this unspoilt area. We will view Kangaroo Island through the eyes of a local guide beginning with a visit to Clifford's Honey Farm. Enjoy a talk and tasting and learn about the unique bee found only on Kangaroo Island. Continue on to the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus and Craft Gallery - the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia, for a guided tour and lunch. A visit to the Island Pure Sheep Dairy is sure to be another of today's highlights. Meet the sheep who live a stress free and relaxing kind of life, which helps produce some of the finest sheep cheese and yoghurt available anywhere in Australia. Stay 2 nights at the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge (Ph 08 8553 7053).

Day 3

Following breakfast, the day begins with a visit to Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided tour. Get up close and personal on one of the rarest and most exceptional nature based experiences and gain a unique insight into how the Australian sea lion lives and breeds. Continue on to Flinders Chase National Park where some of Kangaroo Island's best attractions are found. As you travel through the park you will enjoy breathtaking views of Yacca Flat and incredible coastal scenery. After a picnic lunch we will visit attractions such as the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch where New Zealand fur seal pups will make you laugh as they frolic in the rock pools beneath the arch. Return to your motel for dinner.

Day 4

February Departure day 4 wording -
After breakfast it's time to leave this peaceful wilderness island behind and travel back to the mainland. On arrival into Cape Jervis, your journey continues across the Fleurieu Peninsula. The peninsula's green hills are bound by cliff tops, beaches, coves and the winding Murray River which pans out and forms a beautiful, calm pool at this afternoon's destination of Goolwa. Once a thriving river port and now a popular holiday town situated on the last bend on the Murray River before it reaches open water. Enjoy lunch in a local hotel followed by a locally guided town tour of this once very important town. Again we will stay overnight at the Apollon Motor Inn (Ph 08 8552 2777), Victor Harbor.

Day 5

As the last day of our tour unfolds, enjoy a visit to the South Australian Whale Centre for a guided tour of the interpretation centre. From railways to whaleways, learn how this building became the Southern Australian Whale Centre and the part it plays in the research of the Southern Right Whale which is often seen frolicking in the waters of Encounter Bay as they migrate to the south coast each year. Purchase your own morning tea this morning before leaving the quaint seaside resort township of Victor Harbor. Travel through the McLaren Vale region, stopping for an early lunch at a local hotel. Continue on to Adelaide Airport for your afternoon flight back to Brisbane where you will be met by our Cross Country Tours staff who will have your transfers organised.
