Home – Melbourne – Foster
After your flight into Melbourne, we travel south east through rolling green hills, small country villages and regional towns filled with Victoria’s history and heritage. Stopping in Leongatha,
with its wide boulevards and historic buildings, continue on to Foster, gateway to Wilsons Promontory National Park, for two nights.
Explore one of the most beautiful national parks in Victoria, Wilsons Promontory. ‘The Prom’, as it is affectionately known, includes the Tidal River, secluded bays, magnificent stretches of beaches, granite outcrops, wildflowers and flowering trees and shrubs. Easy nature and wildlife walks along the way include Miles Landing Nature Walk, Prom Wildlife Walk, Cotters Lake and Beach, and Shallow inlet walk.
Foster – Lakes Entrance
Travelling north we stop at Golden Beach, part of the Gippsland Ninety Mile Beach. At Bairnsdale enjoy lunch and a visit to St Mary’s Catholic Church, with its Italian murals painted on the
interior of the church. Continue on to Lakes Entrance and board a two hour Sunset Cruise on the Gippsland Lakes, returning to our motel for dinner.
Lakes Entrance – Buchan Caves – Metung Village
Enjoy the scenic drive to Buchan Caves where we will discover an underground wonderland of spectacular limestone formations. Following a local guide, we explore the caves at our
own pace (please note there are a number of steps towards the end). Or perhaps relax in our beautiful surroundings. Travel to Metung Village, a peaceful corner of the Gippsland Lakes,
enjoying lunch and free time for a walk along the lake foreshore. Returning to Lakes Entrance, visit the Griffiths Shell Museum to see the collection of land and marine shells on display. Take a stroll on the footbridge to Ocean Beach.
Lakes Entrance – Old Gippstown – Traralgon
Travelling further into the Gippsland area, we visit Old Gippstown, a historic town featuring authentic buildings dated between 1840 and 1930. Enjoy lunch and a guided tour, as well
as plenty of time to explore the activities and displays of the village. Later this afternoon visit St Michael’s Catholic Church in Traralgon for a guided tour of this impressive church built
over 100 years ago with amazing leadlight windows before checking into our overnight accommodation.
Traralgon – Melbourne – Home
Before returning to Melbourne, we stop to smell the roses at Morwell Centenary Rose Garden, featuring more than 3,500 roses. Visit PowerWorks and find out about the process
of making coal into power. In Melbourne, say your farewells over lunch before your flight and transfers home.
