Day 1

Following your transfer to Brisbane Airport, board your morning flight to Melbourne, where our crew will be waiting. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Sunbury Bowls Club before taking a tour of Living Legends and Woodlands Homestead. The homestead was established in 1843 as a pre-constructed timber kit house brought from Britain. The homestead and park now gives visitors the opportunity to mingle with retired champion racehorses that have been owned, bred and spelled on this property since the 1840's. After meeting some of racing's living legends on a walking tour, we head to our motel, unpack and relax for the next 6 nights at the centrally located Mercure North Melbourne (Ph 03 9329 1788).

Day 2

This morning make your way to the Werribee Open Range Zoo to experience your own African safari tour. Become completely immersed in the sight, smells and sounds of the Savannah as you travel across the zoo's open plains. Following lunch, be entranced by Werribee Park; 10 hectares of open parkland and superbly manicured formal gardens designed to complement Werribee Mansion's grand design. Discover the Victorian era in Australia as you take part in a tour of the mansion before returning to your motel for dinner.

Day 3

Another interesting day is in store starting with a tour of the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where many a sporting record has been made. Known as the super stage for Australian sport, the Melbourne Cricket Ground is an unforgettable experience. Visit the National Sports Museum which is home to Australia's finest collection of sporting heritage, and features thousands of sporting artefacts and extensive multimedia displays. From here head to the Queen Victoria Markets for a dose of retail therapy and time to purchase your own lunch. If you're not into shopping, just sit back and take in the markets olde-world charm. This afternoon relax on board a Melbourne River Cruises vessel as we cruise past Melbourne CBD and discover one of the busiest trading ports in the Southern hemisphere. Victoria Docks will give you a snapshot of the rich maritime heritage. Return to motel for dinner.

Day 4

Today we will escape from the city and travel to the Dandenong Ranges. Ride on the famous Puffing Billy, an historic steam train still running in the mountain district and a genuine relic from our more leisurely days. Today's buffet lunch is at the world renowned Bavarian style Cuckoo Restaurant. Why not 'kick up your heels' and enjoy the unique entertainment? Following lunch, visit Rochford Wines, a boutique third generation orchard and gourmet wonderland set in the glory of Victoria's Yarra Valley before returning to your motel before dinner.

Day 5

Today is the day for more than just a horse race; it is known as "the Race that stops a Nation"! We are pleased to be offering you the opportunity to be part of the Melbourne Cup celebrations and the chance to experience this carnival-like atmosphere along with your fellow passengers. You will see the city of Melbourne come alive when your Coach Captain transfers you to Flemington Racecourse. Along with our Hostess, make your way to our reserved seating in the Open Lawn Stands located opposite the Winning Post. For your convenience, a boxed lunch will be provided today. As the country comes to a standstill and a new Melbourne Cup winner etches their name into the history books, you can't help but feel the excitement of the crowd at one of the biggest sporting events on the Australian calendar. There will also be the opportunity for you to view the horses in the stables amongst the magnificent display of roses, see the Fashions on the Field along with other more colourful characters and you may even see a celebrity or two! Please note there is no formal dress code for today, however, you are encouraged to dress for a smart occasion.

Day 6

Melbourne is certainly a cosmopolitan city and today's touring is full of diversity. Begin with a visit and guided tour of Old Melbourne Gaol; home to Melbourne's oldest prison, historic Magistrate's Court and former Police City Watch House. Most of Australia's infamous characters, including the iconic bushranger Ned Kelly and notorious gangster Squizzy Taylor have spent time within the walls of this amazing gaol. Next we travel to the beautiful seaside suburb of St Kilda. Take time to purchase your own lunch before re-boarding your coach for a leisurely drive along the Esplanade with opportunity to see the renowned coloured bathing huts near Brighton. This evening enjoy a meal on the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, sure to be another highlight on your visit to Melbourne and surrounds.

Day 7

After packing your bags, prepare for the awe inspiring views of Melbourne from the Eureka Skydeck 88. This is the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere. Before farewelling this beautiful city, enjoy the international buffet at the Watergardens Hotel and take time to reflect on some of the highlights of your tour. On arrival back into Brisbane, you will be met by our staff who will have your transfers organised. Thank you for choosing to travel with us and we look forward to seeing you out on tour again soon.
