Home - Adelaide - Renmark
After arriving in Adelaide, we will board our coach transfer, travelling through the Barossa to the Victorian border at Renmark. This is where we will join the Murray Princess which has been recently refurbished and is now the largest paddleboat in Australia. Once settled into your cabin, join your fellow passengers on the top deck as our leisurely cruise down stream commences. View the old Paringa Bridge which is over 100 years old before arriving at the first of five locks that we will pass through on our journey.

Day 2

Rumpagunya Creek - Morook
Depart Rumpagunya Creek early morning and navigate through our second lock and the Kamikaze Flats. After lunch we arrive at the township of Loxton where you will step back in time at The Village. Discover stories of the region’s early settlers and their families, displayed in over 45 recreated buildings and exhibits on the banks of the mighty Murray River. We depart Loxton late afternoon and continue on to Morook for our overnight anchorage. After dinner, be treated to a special excursion to the Christmas Loxton Lights Festival. See Loxton shine with thousands of twinkling fairy lights, bright colourful
banners and large clusters of residential streets decorated with over 350 illuminated Christmas scenes, paintings and coloured light displays. Wander the shopping precinct and soak up the atmosphere of the festive season.

Day 3

Morook - Overland Corner
This morning we cruise towards Kingston-on-Murray where you will visit the Cobdogla Irrigation and Steam Museum, home of Australia’s ‘Big Thumper’ Humphrey Pump. During lunch, the Murray Princess will navigate the third lock on her journey on the way to Overland Corner, where we will take a guided tour. The Overland Corner Hotel has been restored by the National Trust of South Australia and has many tales to tell.

Day 4

Overland Corner - Waikerie
Merry Christmas everyone! Wake up Christmas morning to experience the magic of the Murray River by participating in a tender boat ride through the Banrock Station Wetlands. Delight in the festivities with a traditional Christmas Day lunch and celebrations. Take in the tranquillity as the landscape slides by as we pass the picturesque town of Waikerie. This afternoon, enjoy the music of Christmas Carols in a fun sing along as we cruise downriver to an old distillery. After dinner, be entertained by the Murray Princess Christmas Concert.

Day 5

Waikerie - Morgan
After navigating a lock this morning we will secure at Caudo Vineyard where we will enjoy cellar door tastings and a tour of the gardens and orchards. This afternoon hop ashore at Morgan where we will see this historic town. During the 1800’s, Morgan was the home port of hundreds of paddle steamers which carried cargo and passengers up the Murray-Darling River system. The restored wharf precinct captures the early river trading days and the town’s museums bring to life the stories of the paddle steamer era. Delight in a fascinating guided walk of the township and Morgan’s three historical museums.

Day 6

Morgan - Sunnydale
Daybreak and time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife include pelicans, wrens and swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising downriver through our last lock. This afternoon we moor at Sunnydale and it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. And then of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue - cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. An optional nocturnal tour (additional cost) in a comfortable purpose built cart is available after dinner where you may see kangaroos, wombats, foxes, bats and owls.

B, L, D

Day 7

Sunnydale - Ngaut Ngaut
After an optional Bush Tucker Breakfast (additional cost) or a bush walk with the Captain, we slowly cruise downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. Visit Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time - tens of thousands of years - for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about aboriginal history in the area. We return to the vessel to cruise downriver to River View Lodge (near Piggy Flat / Coolcha). Along the way, enjoy a special presentation and tasting of the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland or inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. Tonight the Captain and his officers host a spectacular Farewell Captain’s Buffet Dinner. Dress up and dance, if you wish.
