Day 1

Sydney – Walcha – Armidale
Heading north from Sydney, we make our way to Gloucester for lunch. Stopping at Carson’s Lookout, take in the spectacular views of the valley along Thunderbolt’s Way. Arriving in Walcha, visit the town’s outdoor sculpture gallery before continuing on to our accommodation in Armidale.

Day 2

Armidale – Uralla – Gostwyck
The Autumn colours will be in full show this morning as a local guide comes onboard to share their love and passion for this city. Next stop will be at the historic Saumarez Homestead,
donated to the National Trust by the White family. It is shows how some of the early New England graziers lived, complete with traditional English gardens, trees and shrubs which make a
nice setting for our country lunch. In Uralla, tour Australia’s oldest working foundry, the Phoenix Foundry and see patterns of the renowned New England Iron Lace. Visit the Anglican Church at Gostwyck, covered in Virginia Creeper, with its striking red tones.

Day 3

Guyra – Glen Innes
After time in the Armidale Heritage Mall, we head north to Guyra. A local guide will join us as we visit the Guyra Rail Museum. At the Celtic Capital of Australia, Glen Innes, a local Scotsman will explain the significance of the Standing Stones and show us the attractive main street of the town where the façades of the buildings have been beautifully preserved.

Day 4

Wollombi Falls – Ebor Falls
Today we head east along Waterfall Way towards Wollomombi Falls, part of the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. From the lookout, see spectacular views of the gorge. After a guided tour of the Dutton Trout Hatchery, enjoy a BBQ lunch in their attractive grounds. We will visit Ebor Falls and later tour of the historic Hillgrove Museum.

Day 5

Armidale – Wallabadah – Sydney
Saying goodbye to this city of colour our journey today follows the New England Highway off the Tablelands and through Tamworth to Wallabadah for morning tea at the First Fleet exhibition. After lunch in Thornton, we’ll begin drop offs on our way back to Sydney.
