Brisbane – Warwick
Today travel the Cunningham’s Highway and ascend the Gap for our first taste of the country life at Bestbrook Mountain Resort, where some old fashioned fun and hospitality is sure to get
you in the mood for celebrating the arrival of 2020. Enjoy a wagon ride and billy tea and damper before lunch on the verandah. On arrival into Warwick, the rose and rodeo capital, learn
some of its 150 year history with a locally guided town tour. Settle in to our accommodation for the next three nights.
Warwick Museum Complex – Glengallan Homestead
This morning visit the Warwick Museum Complex, the home of the heritage listed sandstone treasure Pringle Cottage, built around 1870. The museum also holds a wide collection of artefacts giving an insight into those who lived in the area from the early days. Visit Glengallan Homestead, one of the few remaining examples of a substantial 19th century country house in Queensland. The homestead that lay in ruin for many years has been restored and offers a glimpse of the squatter's life. Enjoy a guided tour and lunch before a visit to the Australian Rodeo Heritage Centre for a yarn or two by one of the guides.
Abbey of the Roses – New Year’s Eve Rodeo
This morning we will visit Abbey of the Roses for a guided tour of the downstairs area and gardens. Starting its life as Our Lady of Assumption Convent in 1883, at its peak, housed up to 23 nuns and 60 girls. After morning tea, enjoy a guided tour of the Warwick Railway Precinct, the home of the Southern Downs Steam Railway. After lunch, enjoy free time before the annual New Year’s Eve Rodeo. You will be able to purchase your own dinner tonight at the rodeo as you enjoy this country spectacular that will culminate in early fireworks. Please note, a reasonable amount of fitness may be required to navigate the tiered seating.
Warwick – Brisbane
Welcome to 2020 and what better way to start a new year than a visit to the stunning Queen Mary Falls. From the Queen Mary Falls Lookout you will see Spring Creek plunge 40m to continue its twisted journey to join the Condamine River. Travel through the countryside on the Mount Lindesay Highway through the border town of Woodenbong and onto Beaudesert for lunch. On arrival back into Brisbane your transfers will be arranged.
