This morning awake to amazing constructions that have made this town famous, from the huge port and iron ore loading facilities to the FIFO camps. Purchase your own lunch before travelling inland to Karijini National Park to experience the tranquillity of crystal clear rock pools, tumbling waterfalls, bush ferns, and the marbled chasms and crevices through this massive gorge system. The resort at Karijini is a unique experience and a two night stay allows time to enjoy the rugged natural outback surroundings in the Hamersley Ranges. View sunset on the gorge walls before enjoying dinner at the alfresco restaurant. See the night sky like never before, far removed from the city lights.

Enjoy this amazing National Park with short walks to Hancock Gorge, Junction Pool Lookout, Oxer Lookout and Joffre Gorge. Return to our retreat for a sit down lunch on the veranda before an easy afternoon of touring, including a visit to the Karijini Park Information Centre and lookout at Fortescue Falls.
Karijini National Park – Dales Gorge – Newman
Today we will take time to discover more of the beautiful Karijini National Park. Explore Dales Gorge, Fortescue Falls and Circular Pool, with a range of walking tracks at varying length. Marvel at the contrasts between red rock and green ferns, dry landscapes and refreshing pools. Continue our journey through this remarkable Pilbara area where deep gorges have been carved out by the rivers as they drain from the higher country to the sparkling seas. Travel south east to Newman, known for its native flora and fauna and rich natural resources, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. This afternoon visit the massive BHP Billiton’s Mt Whaleback Mine which was established in 1968 and is the largest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. This visit is sure to impress! Please note: due to Workplace Health and Safety requirements, you will be required to wear a hat, comfortable enclosed footwear, a long sleeved shirt and long pants for this afternoon’s visit.
Newman – Meekatharra
Depart Newman and continue south on the Great Northern Highway, witnessing the amazing diversity of this Pilbara area. Be in awe of the overturned landscapes of the mines through the Hammersley Range and the machinery that seems so enormous in real life. Stop off for morning tea at Kumarina Roadhouse before continuing south to Meekatharra – the largest township of the Murchison/East Gascoyne region. This afternoon we will visit Peace Gorge, a fascinating area of granite formations which is a local picnic spot. Stop in Meekatharra for our overnight stay.
Meekatharra – Dalwallinu
Travel this morning to Mount Magnet, located at the hub of the Murchison region. Mount Magnet was aptly named in 1854, when the local ironstone affected the surveyor’s compass. Visit the Mount Magnet Mining and Pastoral Museum where you will gain some insight into the early pastoral and gold mining activities of the area. Continue on through the Wheatbelt region to Dalwallinu, a tiny oasis with paved streets and houses set in the midst of a sea of wheat, for our overnight stay.
Dalwallinu – Perth
Another great day of touring ahead as you travel via Moora to New Norcia. Surrounded by wheat fields, sheep properties and acres and acres of canola, New Norcia’s Spanish inspired buildings will come as a surprise. The whole town was established in 1846 as a mission by the Benedictine Monks. After lunch and a tour of New Norcia Museum, Art Gallery and Information Centre, resume your travels via Bindoon, Muchea and Upper Swan as you make your way into Perth for our overnight stay.
Perth – Home
After a relaxed breakfast, it will be time to pack your bags ready for your return flight home. Spend some time in the beautiful Kings Park where you will have the opportunity to purchase your own morning tea.
